A Bangladeshi Pyrrhic victory

When the Greek King Pyrrhus of Epirus defeated the Romans, his army suffered massive casualties.

"Another such victory and I come back to Epirus alone", Pyrrhus was quoted saying.

The yesterday win by the incumbent Awami League in the Bangladeshi "general" elections may be reinventing the phrase "Pyrrhic victory". The incumbent government is for now victorious, however, but the country's stability suffered heavy casualties.
