Home is where your heart is

We have arrived back in Dhaka after a month long vacation. We had a great trip, our best ever, but it feels so good to get back to our house, to our WiFi, our own bed and our own bathroom. And it feels so great not be living out of a suitcase...

It took a little while to realize that the definition of home is not a word or a thought, but a feeling. Just a quiet reassurance telling you belong in that place. It took forever to understand where exactly that place was, and the answer was always right in front of our eyes.

Except this time we came back to a really troubled home, with the fighting between the "parents" threatening to bring  it to the brink once again. The much anticipated elections are turning out to be one sided, with the opposition leader under virtual house arrest, the next opposition party leader forcibly kept in a military hospital and the Islamic party Jammat-e-Islami barred from participating. The incumbent is already guaranteed victory with 153 out of 300 seats going uncontested. That will mean that we ain't seen nothing yet and that the violence and instability will only escalate from here. And the people suffering is just beggining.

Welcome back home, but the roof is on fire!
